Lets talk about weight! - Community Engagement - 24th November 2011

Southwark has one of the highest levels of child obesity in the country. More than 40% of the borough's children are classed as ''overweight and obese'' when they leave primary school, and that's storing up a lifetime of health risks for the next generation. We need to talk about weight concerns and what we can do to shape up Southwark for the future.

NHS Southwark and Southwark Council are holding an open discussion on 24th November to gather views, ideas and information, so if you are a Southwark resident, a concerned parent, or if you work or volunteer with families and children in Southwark, please come to join in the conversation about our children's health. Virtual Ward Pilot - Launch Event - 16th November 2011

Kings Health Partners are launching their Virtual Ward Pilot, which will be taking place in Bermondsey & Rotherhithe in Southwark, and Southern half in Lambeth.

The Virtual Ward Pilot aims to improve health care for local people. We will work with GPs and and local hospitals to avoid hospital admission and to discharge people home sooner than we do now.

The launch will inform people/organisations/services it will be most likely to affect, of our plans for delivery in the mentioned pilot areas, as well as giving you an opportunity to input to ensure successful delivery across pilot sites.

Amulance Services - Patients Forum - Equality Delivery System - Goals & outcomes - 14th November 2011

Drama Play on Muslim women experiences of maternity - Weds 26th October 2011

Southwark Muslim Women Association (SMWA) are presenting a drama based on mainly on the maternity birth experiences of a number of Muslim women. This is also included as part of the Black History activities at the Centre. The Black History range of activities will start at 10am, the drama will start at 11.30am (approximately 40 minutes) with lunch after and henna activites.

The Future of Southwark National Health Service - 14th October 2011

The Southwark Pensioners Action Group will be holding a Q&A about the future of the NHS Service. Speakers include one of the GPs from the new SOuthwark Clinical Commissioning Committee and Andrew Bland (Managing Director of Southwark Business Support Unit) Come and question the people who are running all the health and social care matters in Southwark.

Southwark Adult Indepedence & Well Being - 12th October 2011

Worlds Biggest Coffee Morning – 30th September

MacMillan Cancer Support and Kings College Hospital FT.

Macmillan ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’, a joint event between MacMillan Cancer Support and Kings College Hospital NHS FT. The Coffee morning is an annual event that gives patients, staff and the local community a chance to raise money for Macmillan, promote the service Macmillan provides for cancer patients and for people to take a break , have a cup of coffee and a slice of cake.

Event will be held on Friday 30th September from 10.30am – 3.0pm in the Macmillan Information and Support Centre at King’s. The main presentation will take place at 1.pm when I and others will say a few words.

London Ambulance Service NHS Trust - Annual Public Meeting - 27th September 2011

In Your Shoes Maternity Event

In Your Shoes is all about listening to our patients to improve the quality of the care Kings College Hospital provides. It gives them the change to hear your experiences of King's, and find out what is important to you, what we do well and what we need to improve.

If you had your baby at King's in the last year or so (including home births), you are invited to share your experiences with members of staff. You'll be asked to identify the key issues, actions and behaviours that made either a positive or negative impact on your experience at King's.

Partners are also welcome to attend. Refreshments will be provided and the venue is accessible.

Get Set Southwark

Join SE5 Forum and other on a transformed Camberwell Green to celebrate the One year to go landmark to the 2012 games. Get Set Southwark will be a day of family fun, games and entertainment from across the borough.

Southwark have been working in partnership with the SE5 Forum to produce a day for the whole community which will kick start the school holidays, whilst looking forward to the year ahead as London prepares to celebrate the Olympic games.On the day there will be a huge selection of games and sporting challenges to take part in, local traders serving fresh food & produce, arts and craft stalls, a community games area along with a truly eclectic main stage line up of performers from across the world, all based in and around Southwark.

Diabetes Modernisation Initiative invite you to give your views on diabetes care closer to home

As a person living with diabetes in the borough, your local NHS services need to get your views on how people with diabetes can receive care and support closer to home.

The Diabetes Modernisation Initiative (DMI) is holding an event for patients who use diabetes services within Lambeth and Southwark to find out your views on proposals to move some out into the community. For you this would mean:

• More support from your GP
• Improved access to education to help manage your diabetes
• Specialist care in community clinics closer to home
• Fewer hospital appointments

If you could spare some time on Thursday 28th July you could make a big difference to your diabetes care and for many others.
