We have work streams in:

  • Acute Provider - this will be monitoring the acute providers with a view to informing our response to Kings and Guy's Foundation Trust.
  • Communities & Engagement - reviewing our outreach visits into the community, collecting views and experiences from the public
  • Information - analysing issues that we have received from our outreach visits and other sources and recommendation actions to the Leadership Group

Maternity & New Born Care work stream

Agreed Priorities

  • Review of the task group and work to date with report to be tabled soon;
  • and arising from the Maternity Task Group's recommendations, focusing on a midwifery led unit in Southwark and postnatal care.

The Group finalised the presentation for the Engagement & Patient Experience Sub-Group, that feeds into the Southwark Clincial Commissioning Group, the body who will replace PCTs and be in charge of commissioning health services in Southwark. We presented on 1st November 2011, 5.30pm-7.30pm,

 Adult Social Care Work Stream

The new Adult Social Care Task Group replaces the Scrutiny Task, building upon the progress and experience of the Scrutiny Task Group. Two Open meetings took place on a wider a range of social care issues to gather views and experiences of the service users. Notes are available below.

Based on the above public meetings and user-feedback, the workstream will be focusing on three key areas:

  • Home Care Services
  • Access to Foot Health Services (Chirpody)
  • Impact of Personal Budgets on Day Care Services

Dementia sub-group

This is a joining of the adult social care and mental health work stream.

The Group has:

  • responded to Southwark Council's consultation on a Centre of Excellence for Dementia and Complex Needs consultation that took place in August / September 2012. What did we do? Gathered feedback, we mailed out the Councils Vision and Questions to our members, uploaded on our website, had an open meeting and visited the two day care centres that could be closed.   • responded to Alzheimers Society consultation on 'Making Dementia Friendly Communities'. Read our response here.
  • Conducted an Enter and View visit to Maudsley Hospital, Aubrey Lewis 2 - inpatient ward for Older People with Mental Health and Dementia, and visited the Home Treatment Team. Report available soon.
  • Met with Team Manager of Southwark Community Mental Health Teams

Focus: Planning and visiting dementia-related services in Southwark

Next Steps: Follow up to Community Mental Health Teams and visiting Memory Service Clinics (diagnosis of dementia)
